BY HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED

Jesus was whipped and by His stripes we are healed. A little more insight will give an accurate description. Jesus took all of our sins as the sacrificial Lamb. This set up a legal action and covenant for us which we know to be true already. So to name just one of the sins that captures this reality we could say that we were dishonorable with His treasure that we received from Him. Jesus revealed this in the parable concerning the man who had buried the treasure in the ground. He stated this as a future court case but He brought it into a present tense condition. He did this by taking the beating as just punishment and of course death on the cross. So in reality Jesus is saying, I am giving them healing and I am getting whipped on their behalf for this exact sin (what did you do with the treasure) they have it buried. The indictment pronounced over this—you wicked and lazy servant. And because Jesus was whipped we now know He accomplished  that justice was served on behalf of those servants unfaithful in handling His treasure. Justice has been satisfied such that we can now operate in the active state of the glory and proclaim legally by His stripes I am healed. Notice when Peter references this verse which is found in Isaiah 53:5 (like a case number) he says it as a past event because it had already set precedence for all future actions on our part legally as citizens of heaven. "Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed" (1 Peter 2:24)
